What is digital solar?

Where do my credits come from?

Are these real pounds or some kind of points?

Real value. Each credit is worth £1 and is applied directly against your electricity bill. It is not loyalty points or a separate currency. One credit equals £1, every time.

How do credits lower my bill?

You pay your electricity bill through GridShare and your available credits are applied against the amount due. You top up any remaining balance in the same step, by card or bank transfer, and GridShare pays your full bill to your provider. Your whole bill is handled in one place.

What happens in winter?

Unlike rooftop panels in Britain, your capacity sits in a high-sunshine solar plant, so output stays strong through the winter months, which is also when your household uses the most power. Credits are planned on an annual-average basis, so surplus carries forward to cover leaner months.

The plant is in India. What happens if exchange rates move?

Your credits are set in pounds and do not move with the exchange rate. Managing that is our side of the arrangement, not yours.

The plant sells all its power to the government under a long-term, fixed-price contract. The power does not come to your home; you keep your existing electricity connection exactly as it is. What reaches you is the value your reserved capacity generates, as credits.

Can I see the paperwork before I commit?

Yes. Before reservations open you will get the full project pack: the signed power purchase agreement, the project report and the system designs. Members read these in their account before committing to anything.

What is P90, and what does the 75% guarantee mean?

Generation is modelled in PVsyst, the simulation software the solar industry uses. P90 is the output level the plant has a 90% chance of beating in any given year, so it is a deliberately cautious baseline rather than a best case. GridShare secures 75% of that figure. If output falls below it, the shortfall is made good in credits.
